Isis Nunez Ferrera, ASF-UK associate, was selected as one of 50 young leaders on ESD initiatives around the world for her work with ASF-UK’s action-learning workshops Change by Design and Resilience by Design. During 8 days, Isis participated in different forums, sharing ASF-UK’s innovative pedagogic approaches and its particular focus on field-based learning environments, collaborative initiatives and reflexive engagement with built environment issues. These discussions reflected on the successes and challenges of such approaches, as well as the lessons they can elicit to help advance formal and informal education for sustainable development. The reflections on ASF-UK’s action-learning programmes informed recommendations for policy-advancement, innovative learning for youth and local communities, included in the official Youth recommendations for the UNESCO Global Action Programme on ESD.
